Meet the new Middle East..
A colleague of mine was telling me over lunch yesterday about this book called “Muhajababes“. The title is just screaming for me to read it. She said she went to Virgin when she first got here (last summer) and asked for the book but the guy said: “Shh! We don’t sell that book here.” With some whining and pleading, the guy finally said FINE then went inside somewhere and got her a copy and warned her about telling anyone.
As my aunt says, if she were to publish a book she’d want it to be banned from Kuwait; it’s good publicity!

4. It can help you save calories on your morning brew.
.
The disadvantages of drinking green tea for weight loss are:
.
1. It is not a magic bullet.

3. The taste sucks! .

OK, OK i’ll confess
I had chocolate fondue yesterday at Chocolate Bar. I know I’m on a diet, but what can I do? My friends and I went to Chocolate Bar, I had no choice! ;P And OMG, it was heavenly! Cookies, bananas, and strawberries dipped in warm melted milk chocolate. How can anyone possibly resist? And as they say: Forget love, i’d rather fall in chocolate!!

I know him by heart
by Vonda Shepard
There’s a secret path I follow to a place no one can find, where I meet my perfect someone I’ve kept hidden in my mind. Where my heart makes my decisions ’till my dream becomes a vision and the love I feel makes him real someday. ‘Cause I know he’s out there somewhere just beyond my reach. Though I’ve never really touched him or ever heard him speak. Though we’ve never been together, we’ve never been apart. No we’ve never met, haven’t found him yet, but I know him by heart.
Am I living in an illusion, wanting something I can’t see? If I compromise I’d be living lies pretending love’s not meant to be. ‘Cause I know my heart’s worth saving and I know that he’ll be waiting, so I’ll hold on and I’ll stay strong ’till then. ‘Cause I know he’s out there somewhere just beyond my reach. Though I’ve never really touched him or ever heard him speak. Though we’ve never been together, we’ve never been apart. No we’ve never met, haven’t found him yet, but I know him by heart. No we’ve never met, haven’t found him yet, but I know him by heart.

Update: Unfortunetly this is not my writing; it’s an actual song. Sorry for the confusion, hehe.

Haven’t you noticed how 99.9% of the sales people in the female section of all women shops have become guys? Lebanese guys to be precise. Why Lebanese guys you may ask? Well, they are only the BIGGEST flirts ever! They flirt a little here, shower you with compliments there, how everything seems to “yilba2lik” (suits you), your confidence level increases, and you end up buying stuff. Am not saying this works with everyone (cuz it doesn’t work with me), but apparently it has proven to be effective. And they are all a bunch of young, not-bad-looking guys. It’s a marketing strategy. Why else would they have all these men in the women’s section? They seem to be attracting the ladies and I guess sales rates have increased as a result. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but it feels uncomfortable having a guy checking you out and hitting on you while you’re in the midst of shopping.
There’s a bright side to this tho. Haven’t you noticed how sometimes women tend to treat men nicer than they treat other women, and men tend to treat women nicer than men? Well that works in this case also. The other day I was with my friend of mine in one of the shops in Avenues. We were walking around selecting clothes to try on. I had a lot so I wanted a basket or something, but I didn’t see any of the customers holding baskets. So I asked my friend if she thinks there are any baskets around, and she said that she asked a lady (the only lady sales person there apparently) and she said they don’t have any. I was like, I need a basket! So there was this sales guy so I said: I need a basket plz, and he was like “tikraaaaam 3ainik!” and rushes to the back of the cashier counter and gets me a basket. And I was like thank you and walked away, so he follows me, tries to start a conversation by cracking a joke, and asks me what am looking for and if I needed help. I was like no thanks am fine. He walks away and comes back and asks me if he could help. I said no again and then he says “3afwan, demoiselle shoo?” and I gave him my first name and he introduces himself and says he’ll be over there *pointing somewhere* if I needed anything. He was soo excited for some reason and wanted to stick around. I think that if I had asked him to carry my stuff around for me as I continued looking at more clothes he wouldn’t have said no. He left and came back yet again. I don’t like 7anna (nagging) while shopping. But anyway, I told my friend that if she ever wanted anything, she should always ask the guys. ;P
So, did you know that black eyes are the rarest eye color in the world? Well, I guess black black eyes don’t exist, but by black I mean the darkest shade of brown which looks like black. I never knew that until that day at the Avenues. Another guy from the cashier at some other store asked me: “i3yoonik sood?” (your eyes are black?), and I was like ya and quickly looked away, then he said: “ibta3rfee ino li3yoon ilsood a7la 3yoon oo kteer jizabeen?” (did you know that black eyes are the most beautiful and very attractive?). And am like oh really, thanks and looked away again. Then: “ibta3rfee ino li3yoon il sood a2alaa shee bil 3alam?” (did you know that black eyes are the least in the world?) And am like aha. Interesting. I was in a hurry and kinda blushing, I know, and in my mind I was like “just gimme my stuff and let me gooo, this is no time to flirt!”
It’s funny how in Kuwait they censor/ban many things but they purposely hire young men to flirt with women in stores in order to increase sales. Maybe I’m not expressing my point clear enuf, but it kinda seems like a contradiction to their cultural norms, don’t you think?

Facebook!
Isn’t it nice when suddenly someone from your childhood such as an old friend, a classmate, or just a random person you once knew who you’ve lost touch with suddenly pops back in your life? Well, if it wasn’t someone annoying or a person you had an ugly past with then wow, that could be fun! What’s not exactly ‘fun’, but rather embarassing, is when that person seems to VIVIDLY remember you and you have NO CLUE! Poof, its like they disappeared from your memory! Not cool. ;/

Bottled H2O
Lately, my favorite water brand is:.
Its taste is very much liked by my tastebuds. It’s kinda sweet and doesn’t have that sharp taste or that thickness. Either that or am just listening to Marina FM way too much.
